Spotify Premium APK — 12 Common Issues & Exact Fixes

By SpotifyApk.club Editorial 6 min read Tested on v9.1.80.2223

1. "App not installed" error during install

Cause: You have the official Spotify app installed alongside the modded APK. Both apps use the same package name (com.spotify.music), and Android refuses to overwrite an app with a different signing key.

Fix: Uninstall the official Spotify app first.

  1. Go to Settings → Apps → Spotify: Music and Podcasts.
  2. Tap Uninstall → OK.
  3. Re-open the modded APK file and tap Install.

If you don't see the official app in the app list, check Settings → Apps → Special access → Install unknown apps and make sure your browser is on the allow list. Some Android skins hide the toggle inside an MDM (Mobile Device Management) profile — if your phone is managed by your employer, you'll need to remove the profile first.

2. App crashes immediately after launch

Cause: Almost always the official app is still installed (see #1). Second most common: leftover data from a previous Spotify install in /data/data/com.spotify.music.

Fix:

  1. Uninstall the official Spotify app.
  2. Open Settings → Apps → Spotify Premium → Storage → Clear data (or "Clear storage" on some skins).
  3. If the crash persists, reboot the phone and try again.
  4. Last resort: factory reset. (Almost never needed; try the above first.)

3. Login keeps looping back to the login screen

Cause: Spotify's authentication server can't match the device's client fingerprint with a known Premium entitlement. Most often this happens when the modded APK is behind on version (Spotify's backend rejects older clients) or when the device is on a VPN with an unusual exit IP.

Fix:

  1. Verify you're on the latest build. The version pill at the top of SpotifyApk.club shows the current release.
  2. Update to the latest APK if yours is older.
  3. Clear the app's data (Settings → Apps → Storage → Clear data).
  4. Disable any active VPN, then log in.
  5. If the loop persists, enable a VPN set to the United States and log in. Some regions have intermittent auth server issues.
  6. Log in with a different email if all else fails — sometimes specific accounts have cached flag issues on Spotify's side.

4. No sound after install

Cause: The most common cause is a feature called Normalize Volume combined with a conflict between Spotify's audio pipeline and the phone's built-in Dolby/DTS processing.

Fix:

  1. In Spotify, go to Settings → Playback.
  2. Toggle Normalize Volume off.
  3. Toggle Equalizer off (then back on if you want it).
  4. Restart the app.

If that doesn't help, check the phone's system-level audio:

5. Offline downloads missing

Cause: Either the APK version is mismatched with Spotify's backend expectations, or the downloads haven't actually completed (they show as queued).

Fix:

  1. Make sure you're on the latest APK from SpotifyApk.club.
  2. Open Spotify → tap the gear icon → Storage — confirm "Storage used" shows data.
  3. If "Storage used" is 0, re-download the playlist: tap the download toggle off, then on again.
  4. Check Settings → Storage → Download using cellular is enabled if you're not on Wi-Fi.

6. AI DJ not appearing on the Home tab

Cause: Spotify's AI DJ is being rolled out region by region. If your country isn't in the supported list, the card won't appear even on Premium. SpotifyApk.club cannot override this; it's a server-side gate.

Fix:

  1. Update to the latest APK.
  2. Log out and log back in to force a feature-flag refresh.
  3. Enable a VPN set to the United States, log in, then disable the VPN once the DJ card appears.
  4. If your region truly doesn't support AI DJ yet, you'll see other Premium features (ad-free, 320 kbps, offline downloads) but no DJ card. This is a Spotify limitation, not a mod issue.

7. Spotify Connect can't find your phone

Cause: Spotify Connect relies on a local network discovery protocol. If your phone and the speaker/PC are on different VLANs, or if your router blocks mDNS traffic, Connect won't see the device.

Fix:

  1. Make sure both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network.
  2. Disable any active VPN on the phone.
  3. Restart the phone and the other device.
  4. If your router supports AP isolation, disable it for the Spotify devices.
  5. Last resort: use Spotify Connect over cellular — start playback on the phone, then on the PC's Spotify app click the device picker (bottom-left speaker icon). The phone should appear even when on cellular.

8. High battery drain

Cause: Spotify's background playback and download services can hold a partial wake lock, especially on phones with aggressive battery optimization.

Fix:

  1. Go to Settings → Apps → Spotify Premium → Battery → Unrestricted (or "Don't optimize").
  2. In Spotify, go to Settings → Playback → Crossfade and disable it. Crossfade prevents the CPU from idling between tracks.
  3. Disable Autoplay if you don't need it.
  4. On Samsung phones, add Spotify to the "Never sleeping apps" list in Battery → Background usage limits.

9. Frequent buffering on cellular data

Cause: 320 kbps audio uses about 1.5 MB per minute. On a weak cellular connection, the buffer can drain faster than it fills.

Fix:

  1. In Spotify, go to Settings → Audio quality → Wi-Fi streaming → High (160 kbps). This drops cellular usage to ~0.75 MB/min.
  2. Or toggle Data Saver on in Spotify → Settings → Data Saver. This caps quality at Normal (96 kbps) on cellular.
  3. Download playlists on Wi-Fi and play offline when on cellular.

10. Spatial audio not working

Cause: Spatial audio requires specific hardware (AirPods Pro/Max on iOS, Sony WH-1000XM5, Sennheiser MTW3, Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro) and a Spotify Premium tier that supports it.

Fix:

  1. Confirm your headphones support Dolby Atmos / 360 Reality Audio.
  2. Go to Spotify → Settings → Audio quality → Spatial audio and toggle on.
  3. On iPhone, go to Settings → Bluetooth → your AirPods → Spatial Audio and toggle on.
  4. On Windows 11, enable Windows Sonic or Dolby Atmos for Headphones in system sound settings.

11. Play Store keeps trying to update the modded app

Cause: Google Play periodically checks installed apps against the Play Store catalog. If it sees Spotify with a non-Play signing key, it offers to "update" it — which would replace your modded build with the official free one.

Fix:

  1. Open Play Store → Profile → Manage apps & device → Manage.
  2. Find "Spotify: Music and Podcasts" (the official version) and tap the ⋮ icon → Uninstall if it's listed. (It shouldn't be — you have the modded one — but sometimes the Play Store still shows it.)
  3. Open Play Store → Profile → Settings → Network preferences → Auto-update apps → Don't auto-update.
  4. Disable Google Play Protect's scanning of sideloaded apps: Play Store → Profile → Play Protect → Settings → Scan apps with Play Protect → off. (Re-enable after you've verified your APK is clean.)

12. App disappeared after 7 days (iOS)

Cause: The free Apple Developer certificate used by AltStore or Sideloadly expires after 7 days. iOS then refuses to launch the app.

Fix:

  1. Open AltStore on the iPhone.
  2. Make sure your iPhone is on the same Wi-Fi as the computer running AltServer.
  3. Tap My Apps → Refresh All. The 7-day timer resets.
  4. If using Sideloadly: connect the iPhone to the computer, drag the IPA into Sideloadly, click Start. The app re-installs with a fresh signature.
  5. For a permanent install (1-year expiry): use a paid Apple Developer certificate and Xcode — see our iOS sideload guide.

Still stuck? Reinstall the latest APK.
